Thank you for the very nice discussion of frames. There may be some merit in the weight of bronze frames for stability. Bronze also doesn't corrode as readily when exposed to salt water, as you point out. I have seen several sextants on ebay that were strongly corroded. I wonder what is the merit in the bronze of a bronze arc attached to an aluminum frame.
