Peter Monta, you wrote:

That's really neat! Since we've established that you and I have nearly identical cameras, of course now I want a bracket just like this. It had not occurred to me at all that this camera design was small enough to drop right in as a replacement for the sextant scope. For general use with different sextants, I'll need to make a couple of different adapters (or some generalized adapater), but that may not be that difficult since the camera doesn't need to be all that securely attached for the sorts of educational videos I'm imagining.
And you added:
"You can use your own 3D printer or get it printed at a service bureau
like Shapeways---the ballpark cost for small objects like these might
be $15 plus shipping."
You own a 3d printer, I take it? I was under the impression that service bureau prices were still quite a bit higher. No? What is that material that your adapter is made from? Is it a hard plastic?
You concluded:
"I'm sure a skilled machinist could simply machine it on a one-off basis from Delrin or aluminum, though."
Heh. Aluminum would be nice. Then there's this nifty all-natural product made from sliced tree trunks. It's even carbon-neutral! I may just have to take a trip to the "sliced tree" store today. :)

PS: Though I may not have time to go to the store today since it's "damage control day" again for another viral video ripped from my "Centennia Historical Atlas". Over the past three years, we're up to over four million hits for unauthorized videos ripped from my software. It would be nice if they would NOT add their own copyright tags to them, huh? :/
