    Your idea is a good idea. Perhaps Ken Gebhart, Celestaire, wants to commercialize this mount in metal alloy, or aluminium?

    The files are attached.  You should be able to import the STL into SolidWorks.
    
    The source files are in OpenSCAD, and they're not properly
    parametric---they contain lots of hardwired numbers.  A better design
    would have parameters to adapt to different sorts of sextant mounts
    and camera-optical-axis locations.
