Ens. James Bruce asks:
"where could I find a sextant that I would be able to plug into a television monitor in order to display what is being seen through the [sextant] eyepiece?
I am the assistant navigator on board the Coast Guard EAGLE and I am looking around for an accessory or specific marine sextant that I could use as a teaching aid. Most of my searches have been fruitless, so any help would be appreciated!

I have a third alternative to those already posted.
There are numerous mini video cameras being marketed as 'spy cams', for as little as $50. Some are the size and shape of penlight flashlights, others are cubes less than one inch on a side. It would not be difficult to mount one in a short cylinder of the correct diameter to fit a particular sextant.
Even better for Ensign Bruce's application, some of these spy cams are wireless; they broadcast to a separate receiver which can be connected to a monitor display. This would be ideal for an instructor demonstrating the use of a sextant to a class.
One technical consideration is the camera's field of view. Most of the spy cams that I have seen have very wide FOV. It would likely be desirable to add a lens in front of the camera to narrow the field.
