I suppose it was in the box. A fall from such height in the box is
unlikely to cause a frame damage. So probably you sextant just needs
a routine adjustment.

Perpendicularity of the mirrors and index error.

So try to adjust perpendicularity first and then index error.
The book of Bill Morris is an excellent guide for this.
