    Sextant Repair
    From: Philip Lange
    Date: 2006 Mar 27, 17:44 -0500
    Update:
The index arm pivot screw on the 1968 Plath sextant was indeed a 2 - 56.

Found a local watch repair fellow that happened to have a tap for "big stuff" and a taste for adventure. We spent an hour or so fussing with it, cleaning screw threads and the like. We successfully substituted "O" rings for the 'C' clips that retain the light switches in their sockets.

The sextant has bee cleaned up and oiled. I will adjust  the mirrors and set about finding out where in the world am.

    Thank you for your suggestions.
    Philip
