    Rodney-
The landmark was the SE corner of the parking lot at the East Bath House
(i.e. Field 6) of Jones Beach. While the beach is sand and in constant
change, the buildings are fixed and have been in the same spot since
    construction (in the 30's?).
It is possible that the buildings were not plotted as carefully as a larger
landmark like the water tower (incorrectly called "the lighthouse" by some of
our local nooze media) and I should go back and verify against *that*
position as well, since the tower appears on nautical charts as a piloting
    reference too.
