John Karl's "Celestial Navigation in the GPS Age" is indeed a good book.
I would check out "Emergency navigation" by Burch and the related emergency navigation card, that last is one compact resource to much useful navigation information.
if I remember right you already know of "how to use plastic sextants".
have you found http://www.celnav.de/ yet?
another interesting book is "Celestial Navigation A home study cource" by burch
then we have "The nautical Sextant" by W.J Morris, excellent boook on the mechanics of sextants and their adjustment.
Mr Morris is by the way on this forum and something of the resident sextant repair expert.
another book is "The sextant handbook" Bruce Bauer, also good information on sextant adjustment and care.
