    Bruce,

The difference between an artificial horizon Hs/2 and the natural horizon Hs should be the dip value provided that weather conditions are normal during observations. Entering the Nautical Almanac dip table with this value would then provide a height of eye. Might save having to drop a barometer ;-)

Very good idea. I don't have a steady enough hand and confidence to do this. Data error/scatter due to "instrument guy". But, if you have used this site before under other conditions, what intercepts/error? What is your height of eye and can you "back out" a dip coefficient?

    Bruce
