No. I have not. :) And I doubt that our anonymous American navigator in 1855 had either. :)
In case I wasn't clear, it would certainly be the correct thing to do. Things get interesting when "correct procedure" and "actual procedure" are different. That's when we can see the "culture" of navigation.
