Re: Scope mounting on vernier sextant? A help for lunars
    From: Randall Morrow

The rising piece adjustability helps with lunars because it can be difficult to find the moon or reference body with the sextant in and awkward position. It seems to work best to shoot at the brightest object and make the field of view for the dimmer one larger by moving the telescope either closer to or farther from the sextant frame. It makes finding an illusive and faint daytime
cresent moon easier. For artificial horizon sights (without a pre calculated altitude) it makes it easier to sweep to find dimmer stars.
