Re: Scope mounting on vernier sextant?

I bought it. It's not perfect but I have had a giant leap in respect for those who used these at sea with oil lamps! The words "easier to read" referring to a micrometer sextant are a gross understatement.
It's from IVER C WEILBACH & CO - Kjobenhavn. I think they are still selling marine instruments. The box has their name on it. The 1912 certificate from the Kew Observatory recorded the sextant number and it matches the sextant. It's a bit confusing but Kew Observatory hand marked the certificate as an Octant and hand marked the range only to 105 degrees when it goes to slightly over 120 degrees.
It has one good scope and the rest are missing some parts.
The scale on the arc looks good and degrees are divided into 4ths. The vernier is divided to 15 seconds. Both scales are black and, so far, I've just lightly wiped them off. There was no scale illumination ever installed.
The scale magnifier is OK and can read all marks with an LED light. It needs cleaning inside but has resisted my efforts to disassemble it so far.
Shades all look good. Index mirror is good but I'll have to cut a new horizon mirror.
Right now it's all oiled up, everything has been moved, and I'm deciding what to do next - probably the new horizon mirror so I can take an AH sight.
    Regards, Noell
