To clean the scales, Noell, use household ammonia diluted 50% with water and rub it on gently with a finger tip, refreshing the finger frequently. It will also get your finger tip clean!. Rinse off the ammonia with fresh water afterwards. Above all, avoid the use of abrasives and metal polishes as these will eventually destroy the very fine graduations.
