As promised in my last post to NavList, I have now written a post on my blog at www.sextantbook.com . Go to the category "Blunders" and find "Incorrect assembly of SNO-T shades". It tells you step by step how to assemble them correctly. Preceding it is a post about Tamaya's incorrect assembly of a collimating rising piece.
For owners of older C Plath sextants who are infuriated by their inability to adjust the friction of the shades, because they cannot obtain the ridiculous adjusting tool with _three_ pins, I have also today written a post on how you or your friendly local model engineer can make your own. Look under the category "C Plath sextants".
