Is it vital to have the manufacturer's manual for a sextant? I thought
sextants were relatively generic items, like slide rules. Some of my
slide rules have manuals, some don't. If you know how to use
one, you can can use them all.

I studied the manual for my Astra when it arrived, but haven't looked at
it since. As far as I remember, it didn't say anything you couldn't find
in any good book on celestial navigation, or figure out by examining the
    sextant.
