I am surprised to learn that only 25 people work in this company:-) They make so many different items! They say that Russians took their machinery and equipment, but it is not clear whether they were producing sextants at all at that time. Has anyone seen a Freiberger of 1940-s? On the other hand, according to some old messages on this list the Russian SNO-T production began in the 70-s. My guess would be not later than 60-s, because in the book I read in 1967 the SNO-T was definitely mentioned. If they were using Freiberger's machinery, it took them really long time to tune it up:-) Could it be that Freiberger Drumsextant is a clone of SNO-T, rather than vice versa?? Does anyone know when Freiberger started their sextant production? > Some years back I read that T stood for Tropical and M for Marine. Could be. The only Russian words that fit and begin with M are "Morskoi" (literally: for use at sea) and "Morehodnyi" (literally: "seafarer's"). Alex.
