    Another way is to use Traverse Sailing. See Bowditch for details, but
    the basic idea is to keep track of each leg travelled (speed, time, and
    course), resolve each leg into its N-S and E-W components, then add up
    all the N-S and E-W components (netting them out as appropriate) to
    figure the course and distance made good. All of this is done without
    plotting. Tables are available, or you can use a calculator and some
    trig. When you are done, you plot the course and distance made good, and
    use that to advance your LOP.
