The following message has just arrived to my inbox. =============================== The Royal Society has made its its digital archive accessible free of charge until 1 February 2009. To use the archive, which contains the Royal Society's publications since the foundation of Philosophical Transactions in 1665, go to http://journals.royalsociety.org/home/main.mpx The archive is normally only available to subscribers as part of one of the Royal Society's 'packages' of journals. ============================== Last time such an offer was made, many Navlist members took advantage of it to download to their collections. Now is an opportunity to top up any gaps. There's a wealth of stuff on early navigation and instruments in Philosophical Transactions, and then Proceedings of the Royal Society. By the way, Phil. Trans. stuff is available (permanently, I hope) on Gallica, the website ot the Bibliotheque Nationale Francaise; That's the original Gallica; I haven't yet succeeded with Gallica2, the updated version being trialled.
