Re my last to you, sight reduction and plot data of your "run of stars", I plotted, or tried to plot the sight reductions, this time allowing for ship's movement, course 037 True, speed 11.6 knots.
Not certain as to the conversions of time to distances, I ended up sort of "estimating" what they would be worth, given that 1 hour was worth 11.6 NM. I seem to have somehow forgotten the workings of 60DST. Must check a previously browsed through book.
In any case, my second effort still ended up with 2 triangles, again 1 inside the other, both being considerable smaller than those obtained with first plot.
Coordinates obtained via this second plotting effort follow.
1st triangle, the larger of the 2:
8D 53.5M North x 109D 50M East.
2nd triangle, the smaller of the two:
8D 53.5M North x 109D 52.0M East.
Let me know how the thing looks.
I invested a bit of change at Office Max today, taking a copy of the USPS CLS Plotting Sheet, and having them enlarge it about 200%, which gives a plotting area of 17.5"High x 13.25"wide, a lot more space for geometric construction otherwise known as "fiddle-farting around". Should be able to get a beytter, more accurate plot with the enlarged sheet, at least it so seems. I will give your new data a shot too.
Regards.
Alan
