I don't have a chartplotter on my boat and I've never seen one boot
up. But I've seen plenty of built-in automobile navigation systems
boot. All require the user to press a button acknowledging that
the auto manufacturer is not responsible for the accuracy of the
data before they'll allow you to use the system.

The gentleman offered re the lack of important data,"we don't
make the cartridges". That might be true, but via his use
spelled sale thereof, I asasume they were selling this stuff,
it strikes me that the seller has assumed responsibility for
the accuracy of what he was selling. Lives coud depend on the
accuracy of the data.
