I do not recall experiencing the problem you mentioned. That being said, the "blaast of light" you mentioned seems something that one would remember. I have had this occasional "blast", while shifting index mirror sun shades though.
If the problem is caused by light being reflected off the shade frame, the frames do not seem all that reflective to me, the following might rerve as a temporary, non-permanent fix. Cut a small piece of masking tape and place it on the offending portgion of thre shasde frame. Next, taks some flat black ink marker and blacken the masking tape with this medium.
