Yes, most watch companies buy all their components from different sources and perhaps even have them assembled at a place of convenience. Branding is a marketing/styling/aesthetic thing which is probably where most of the profits come from and not the underlying movement quality and precision. For us navigators it is durable precision that counts thus the attraction to well made quartz watches. There are good quartz watch values out there if a little searching is done. I probably went to an extreme but learned how to work on a modern watch in the process. The result is a watch that I intimately understand and is now more valuable as a personal item rather than just a timing tool.
