    Dear Frank,

    You suggested this article:

    https://davidburchnavigation.blogspot.com/2018/11/fit-slope-method-to-analyze-sextant.html

English is not my native (and I'm not so prominent in Mathematics either!) so it is difficult to me to discuss these matters.

Intuitively I was thinking (when creating this topic) along the same line - there is a lot of a priori knowledge about the altitudes and their trends which we must use as restrictions of the curve-fitting process. The article puts it very clearly.

Just one comment though: we are expected to have rather good DR to use it for the slope selection. If our DR is not so good - could we do more harm than good by introducing a wrong slope?

    Please comment.

    Regards,

    Tony
