    Dave,

    Is that star Menkar?  I wondered why 249 selects Rigel and Betelgeuse, which are relatively close together in azimuth.  Menkar, though dimmer, fills a gap in azimuth.

    Adding to my previous, the attached shows that the 249 star is brighter, but mine is better located in azimuth.
