I  have a 1995 edition "revised and edited by Herrold E. Headley, PH.D."  A biographical sketch that includes a publication history is included.  In a preface, Headley writes, "I have made every attempt to retain Mixter's simple an direct style in the seventh edition, as was the case in previous editions.… The arrangement of the book, the presentation of material, the general format, as well as the spirit of the presentation, are all his.   Later editors have only updated the material as it became necessary." (p. x)

There was a fourth edition in June 1960. The fifth edition, in April 1967 was revised by Donald McClench. A sketch of Mixter's life in the fifth edition says that he died in 1947 and that the third (1952) edition was completed by Ramon O Williams.
