Recommended for Navlisters - Pre-computation of altitudes and azimuths before departing on your next sail or flight. This old aviation technique delivers lightning fast intercepts with only the task of reading the sextant angle at the designated time. The attached set of pre-computations and observations were done this morning as a trial in my boat slip at Channel Islands Harbor. A Palm PDA was used to pre-calculate altitude and azimuth every 6 minutes for a 2 hour period (this took about 20 minutes to complete). Observations were aided by an alarm on my Palm Centro smart phone which was set to 6 minute intervals. When the alarm sounds then an audio mark is heard to accurately time the shot on the whole minute. The process was performed without error the first time through so I give pre-computation a big double thumbs up for precise fast error free reliability. -- NavList message boards: www.fer3.com/arc Or post by email to: NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList+@fer3.com
