    Uh...because I was teaching Mercator projections last week?  Because George said so?  Both?

    Thanks for the tip on the maps.   I was actually wondering about this point. In particular, I have a sky chart from the USNO that's using a equirectangular(?) grid.   I'll check out your website.  

    On Tule/Thule - I did a bit of digging, and it seems that the common description is that it's something like 5-6 days sailing from Britain.   That could implicate Iceland, although I suppose it all depends on what a person calls "Britain" in ancient days. 

    So much to learn, so little time...
