In the past we have discussed the Admiral Shovel disaster in 1707 when his fleet went on the rocks in the Scillys. We also discussed the similar accident in 1923 when seven U.S. Navy distroyers went on the rocks at Point Honda in California, See:

Yesterday I had to go to San Luis Obispo to pick up my airplane and fly it back. I decided to take the Amtrak train up from Camarillo California. The tracks run right against the shore and you almost expect the waves to wash into the railcar. It is a very beautiful trip that took four hours. I brought a book a long to read but never got to it because I was too busy looking out the window.

I remembered the 1923 disaster so I was on the lookout for the scene of that event. I have attached a photo showing what is now called "distroyer rock."
