Haven't heard about plotting sheets for quite a while, but one of my
favorite stories is about them. On one Newport to Ensenada race, a boat owner
had lightened the boat to the extent of removing everything not deemed
essential. Unfortunately, that included all the charts. Joe Cutting was the
navigator, and he constructed a small area plotting sheet, and plotted positions
f rom the light list. That was what he used. That's a far cry from space
navigation, which is Joe's day job.
How the light list survived the stripping of the boat is a surprise.

Randy,
See the linked image for an example of a plotting sheet constructed for your location 35 north 119 west. The other image shows a few plotting tools that will assist in the construction.
