Yes Federico the button is inline with the micrometer drum and that must be it's function. Normally batteries for lights on sextants are stored inside of the handle but this sextants handle is open and I see no other place for a light. I believe it was manufactured in 1977 and therefore has no light. It is in excellent shape and I am very pleased to receive it. Tnx for your help.
