I'm interested in these two sextants. I've handled the Navistar but not the Observator. It seems to me that both these sextants were attempts to move towards a more modern design. It's a pity that they came at the end of that kind of navigation. I don't suppose anyone will devote effort to advance sextant design from here on. No need, no market. If celestial navigation continues it will probably be done with camera devices. Something will be lost, at least one can see and understand the mechanics of a sextant. By the way, would anyone know the radius of either of these instruments?
