During the current lead up to the annual Sydney to Hobart yacht race that begins on the 26 December, one skipper has divulged his navigational tactics.

He said it was quite simple: turn right out of Sydney Harbour, count 11 lighthouses, and then turn right again.

I think he’s sailed this race a few times …
