    Piracy - this time complete message

    When the movie "Captain Philips" came out there was a long discussion of modern-day piracy here. Some here strongly advocated armed guards, some even posting movies of "Gatling gun" machine guns.

    As perhaps a cautionary tale for those of the (to quote a famous sign posted by US soldiers during the Viet Nam war) "kill 'em all and let God sort them out" view, two interesting items were posted on IHSmaritime360, an international maritime news service.

    1.   Two armed guards hired by Maersk shipping aboard the Maersk Alabama (yes, Captain Philip's former ship) were found dead from overdoses of illegal drugs:

    2.  The shooting my Italian Marines of some Indian fishermen is causing major diplomatic stress between the two countries.  More than that, though, the legal arguments being advanced may threaten anti-piracy efforts in general:
