    I think if it is a matter of death or doing lunars from a lifeboat, I would just sing a verse of "Nearer my God, to Thee" and prepare to die like a man.

    I would hope to have a generous enough spirit that I would congradulate you...

          even as I wished our lifeboats had not become
          separated (I had my heart set on just following you)

    ...on being better prepared than me.

    In the Atlantic, I might be able to get away with a) determining the difference between sunrise and sunset and b) heading for the nearest continent.  But the Pacific is a bigger piece of water.
