Keith, Aluminium frame and index arm suggests you may have a U-boat sextant. Is there a symbol on the index arm? Most of the U-boot sextants were adorned with a swastika and German eagle on the index arm. A lot of these old relics turn up with swastika scratched or ground out. Can you send a photo?
