Hello, Weems in his book Air Navigation (British Empire Edition) page 332 shows a Fave Diagram, apparently similar to a Veater Diagram (??) which "offers a general solution of the spherical triangle by superposing curves of declination, altitude, hour angle and azimuth on a mercator projection chart". The image shows a square grid with two intersecting sets of curves, I suspect LHA (t) and dec (D), against axes of Alpha (vertical) and Betha (horizontal). I suspect Betha is the Azimuth which is read differently depending on 3 different Lat and Dec relationships Does anybody have a clue how these diagrams are used to derive Alt and Az from LHA, Dec and Lat? Thanks Zvi
