    Cher Kermit,

Indeed 3D vector analysis is the best way to approach the parallax problem on the ellipsoid. Just to be clear; if it were possible to peer through the impenetrable scrawl of the derivation attached to my 2013 post it would be apparent that this is how my results were obtained. All intermediate results and expressions therein are exact with approximations being made only at the very end when a series expansion in e2 and (a/R) is performed,

    Regards,

    Robin
