Hi:
I've recently become interested in historical CN as
developed with the dawn and progress of aviation. I very much hope to
see more of this discussed on NavList.
I hope Weems' papers could be released ,more
or less, by topic . However, some material falls under
several topics so a category description can be difficult to
define. Possible topics:Earliest aids up to 1920?, air
mail route navigation aids over water, over land; onboard instrumentation ;
development of various mathematical techniques/tables; etc. Ideally
the released material would have cross references to letters and govenment
documents, or other files/topics, but this is probably hoping for too
much. Historians spend their lives sorting through this type of
material.
Thank you for asking for NavList input.
Much appreciated!
Bruce

Subject: [NavList 22515] P.V.H. Weems
papers
In early April, the National Air and Space Museum will be launching its
website for the new Time and Navigation exhibit. It will feature the ability
to host a considerable amount of research material. One of the obvious sources
of material are the 200 or so linear feet of P.V.H. Weems' papers. We have to
start somewhere, so what types of things would Navlist folks like to see
first?
