Drowning 74% 70% no PFD 30% PDF One could deduce that Poseiden dislikes the extra effort required to pull down buoyant objects, therefore people who wear floatation devices are taken less often. Or, one could try to hang about in the water for a day and night with a PFD, then try to repeat the experience without one. What do the statistics matter? Sailors who have a macho problem wearing PFD's should be reminded: Wear it as courtesy to the underpaid men who go out in all wx looking for MOBs. It may not save my life, but it will let them find my body and go home sooner.
