Hi Ed,
Nice to see the optical bench device on photos. I've seen it only in textbooks where it was shown only schematically with some description text. I attached a copy from the Russian book written by Krasavtsev. There were two companies making the optical benches: VEB (DDR) and Plath (BRD) which are different only in some details.
I was always wondering about a modern version of optical bench. Does it exist? On which basis they put all arc errors to zeros in my ASTRAIIIB sextant certificate ...
