I must have been one of the last people to attempt to use it. I used
it late January 1997 on the training ship. I was off the west coast of
South America. I believe that my fix error was somewhere in the
neighborhood of 50 nm. I will have to look in my nav notebooks from that
cruise to see if I recorded my attempt or just threw it away due to
inaccuracies.
I do remember learning how to plot them for the USCG test. I think
that we may have been the last year that they were included on the tests.
We still have some charts in our catalog that have the Omega overlays on
them.

Has anyone on this list had experience using OMEGA? I know how it worked (centilanes, etc.) but I wonder how it worked in practice. Is this system in place or was it shut down? when?
