Norm, I remember seeing the Napoleon graphic years ago and wondering ... Was a similar one ever done for the German invasion in World War II?

Yes, David Sweetman and Otto van Poelje were discussing Tufte off-line. The Tufte gang is quite protective of their graphics for sure.
