Re: [Off-topic] Electrical engineering and stargazing cruises

My understanding is that RF electronics is not taught in electrical engineering courses any more - and that has been true for a long time. But that is OK, because there are computer design programs which will design RF circuits, given the basic parameters....

I read that 40% of university students in Singapore study STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) whereas only 4% do in the UK.

I know that over the years I have employed a number of youngsters to come and work in my precision engineering businesses, young lads who are by no means stupid, but who can barely write their own name and need a smart phone to do basic arithmetical manipulation. That seems to be pretty normal for the education system here in Scotland.

With a nod to bringing this back on topic, I struggle to convey the principles of CN to almost anybody because they do not even have a grip on the basic principles to which they can relate. Our political leaders promise the salvation of a white hot technological revolution in this country which will make us all rich - but who is going to do the technical stuff....?
