    Many of the Aubrey books mention the ceremony at high noon, the
    quarterdeck crowded with young officers and midshipmen learning the
    art of the noon sight.  Lord knows, they were much better at
    spherical trig and angles than some of us seem to be . . .
    
    It is perhaps our job to make sure that they get at least that part
    of the movie correct.
