    Odd postings
    From: George Huxtable

Some odd postings have come my way just recently.

Two identical copies of a message from John Karl have appeared, both with
the threadname "Re: CN in the GPS Age", both despatched within the same
minute of time, and both apparently devoid of any content other than quotes
from earlier messages. One might just put this down to finger-trouble at the
sender's end, except that both messages have somehow been given the same
message number, Navlist 3295. How can this happen? Has Navlist stuttered?

Shortly after, two identical messages appeared from Gary LaPook, with
interesting content which I will deal with in another thread. And again, the
message numbering is curious. The first was [Navlist 3296] Re: sight
reduction tables. Nothing odd about that one. The second message, apparently
identical and sent a few minutes later, hadn't been given a Navlist message
number at all. Instead, it was headed just-
"Re: [NavList 3292] sight reduction tables". Can Navlist send a message
without attaching a message number? What's going wrong?

    George.
