Well so do I, although its not huge, mine is N52d 03'
W053d 03' against the 'answer' N52d 06' W053d 00'. Different methods of
sight reduction, different calculations of azimuth, etc, could easily account
for this. With only 2 LOPs any difference in azimuth will immediately lead to a
different fix position, where with 3 or more bodies the difference could be more
slight.
The 'answer' intercepts are quite different from mine. I
assume this is because the author used the nearest whole degrees as a DR, some
methods of sight reduction demand this. Mine uses the actual calculated DR or
Estimated Position. This can lead to shorter intercepts that themselves can lead
to a more accurate fix.
But bear in mind that any calculated fix position will
only be the best approximation of where you are, or were. It will almost
certainly not be the actual position - that would be an unlikely
fluke.

When able can I get you folks to work it? Dan, Peter, George, Doug, et al? Would appreciate your input! Yours Truly, Mike Burkes
