    Not another Plath Gyro-Sextant question?
    From: David Pike
    Date: 2016 Apr 27, 03:59 -0700

The Plath gyro-sextant used by the U-Boat arm is usually referred to as the SKS 3D.  However, it’s sometimes referred to on the www. as the S 30 e.g.  http://www.knirim.de/plathe.htm  .  I’d assumed that 30 was an easily made misprint of 3D, which is self perpetuating as things do on the www.; I even used it myself for a while.  However, I could be wrong.  They might be two slightly different sextants, or maybe one was the works number and the other was the Kriegsmarine number.  Please can anyone give me a definite answer?  DaveP
