The Nocturnal does indeed work. As does the latitude deviation scale on the reverse (shown in the first picture.)
I also have the Mariner's Astrolabe coin:

It works well in combination with the deviation scale.
I have achieved accuracy to within about 15 minutes with the nocturnal, which is the advertised average. The Astrolabe is only accurate to about +/- 1 deg.
They're also currently designing and testing a working miniature sextant. (There is a non-functioning model available now.)
