My ship is finally getting an ECDIS and I am taking the CBT to learn how to use it. I have found that you can input range and bearings from visual and radar targets, but there is no capability to enter in Celestial LOP's. This is most unfortunate because if I am in the middle of the ocean and the GPS decides to not work, I won't have any ability to draw my fix on the ECDIS (which is supposed to take the place of the paper charts).
I guess I had better squirrel away a few plotting sheets while I have a chance, and look up to see how I can tell it to put a fix at a specific location at a set time.
