Yes, pressure causes bioluminescenct release in many of the organisms. Cavitation in the prop's of boats will do the same thing.
Ben Franklin actually thought that electricity was an intrinsic property of sea water, because if you put water in a jar, and shook it up, it would glow. He later revised that idea, but it took him some time.
The underwater lightning, I cannot explain for the life of me.
